The J. Lewis Crozer Library is dedicated to providing equitable computer access to all library users, reflecting its commitment to meeting the informational and lifelong learning needs of the entire community. By offering internet access, the library significantly expands its range of informational services. However, it is important to acknowledge that not all information found on the internet is accurate, comprehensive, current, legal, or universally acceptable in terms of philosophy.
As a member of the Delaware County Library System, the J. Lewis Crozer Library adheres to the Delaware County Library System Electronic Information Network and Internet Safety Policy. All library users are required to comply with this policy while using the library’s resources.
PUBLIC COMPUTERS
Public computers cannot be reserved in advance, and are available on a first come, first-served basis. All public computers are equipped with the following:
- Windows 10
- Microsoft Office Suite, which includes Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Microsoft Edge
- Google Chrome
- Printing capabilities
Please adhere to the following guidelines when using public computers:
- To access the public computers, you will need a library card or a guest pass. These can be obtained from the Customer Service Desk. Your library card number is a unique identifier provided for your personal use and privacy. Unauthorized use of this number to access a computer is prohibited and may result in suspension of library privileges. JLC staff may ask for identification for verification purposes.
- Each user is entitled to a minimum of forty (40) minutes of uninterrupted use, with a daily maximum limit of two (2) hours.
- Extended use beyond the two-hour limit is subject to the discretion of the library team, depending on demand. Users must be prepared to relinquish the computer when requested by a team member.
- Children under 10 years old must be accompanied and supervised by a guardian or caregiver who is at least 13 years old.
- Only two (2) individuals are allowed at a computer at one (1) time.
- Accessing pornographic or obscene material is strictly prohibited and may lead to a loss of library privileges.
- Do not download or install any software on the library computers. Violating this rule may result in suspension of library privileges.
- Users are encouraged to bring their own headphones. If using headphones, please keep the volume low so as not to disturb others. Headphones are also available at the Customer Service Desk.
- If you encounter any issues with the computer, please inform a team member immediately.
- We recommend saving your work on portable USB drives, which can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk for five dollars ($5.00).
- Should you need to step away from the computer, make sure to lock it. The PC Lock feature allows a 20-minute window before your session is automatically ended.
- Always end your session when finished to protect your privacy.
- The Library is not responsible for any damage or loss of data resulting from the use of its computers or network.
WI-FI ACCESS
The J. Lewis Crozer Library offers free Wi-Fi access for library users with Wi-Fi-enabled laptops and other portable devices. Our Wi-Fi access points, while unsecured, are filtered in compliance with the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA) regulations and adhere to the Internet Safety Policy. By using the JLC wireless network, you agree to the terms outlined in this policy. We strongly recommend reviewing this policy before accessing the service. Non-compliance may lead to suspension of library privileges and/or potential legal action.
It is your responsibility to ensure that your equipment is compatible with the library’s wireless network. Please note that the library cannot guarantee uninterrupted wireless access at any given time or with any specific device. Service disruptions may occur, and some wireless devices may not be compatible with our network.
Library team members are unable to provide technical assistance regarding your wireless device, connection to our network, or internet access.
Remember that you are using a public network to access the internet. We cannot guarantee the privacy of the information transmitted over this network or the internet at large. It is solely your responsibility to ensure virus protection and the security of data on or transmitted by your device.
The J. Lewis Crozer Library is not liable for any damage, theft, or loss of a customer’s equipment, software, data, or other personal property brought into or used within the facility.
How to Connect
To connect your laptop or mobile device to the Wi-Fi:
- Go to your device’s settings and turn on Wi-Fi.
- Search for available networks and select “CrozerLibrary”.
- Enter the password: crozerlibrary.
Wi-Fi access is available throughout the library, extending to the parking lot and MLK park.
PRINTING, COPYING, SCANNING, AND FAXING
The J. Lewis Crozer Library offers services for printing, copying, scanning, and faxing.
PRINTERS
The Library provides both black-and-white and color printing services. If you are using one of the public computers, you can print directly to the printer located at the Customer Service Desk. If you are using your own device, email your document to jlcrozerlibrary@gmail.com and then pick it up from the Customer Service Desk.
Here is a breakdown of our printing costs:
- Black and white prints (8.5 x 11 inches): $0.15 per page
- Color prints (8.5 x 11 inches): $0.25 per page
- Black and white prints (8.5 x 14 inches): $0.30 per page
- Color prints (8.5 x 14 inches): $0.50 per page
Please note that for double-sided printing, each side is counted as a separate page.
COPIERS
The Library offers copying services in both black and white and color. Library users are currently allowed to make up to 100 black and white copies.
The charges for our copying services are as follows:
- Black and white copies (8.5 x 11 inches): $0.15 per page
- Color copies (8.5 x 11 inches): $0.25 per page
Please note that for double-sided printing, each side is counted as a separate page.
SCANNING
You may use the library’s scanning service for free with your own USB drive. If needed, USB drives can be purchased at the Customer Service Desk for five dollars ($5.00).
Please note that some USB devices may not be compatible with our copier, and the Library cannot be held responsible for any loss of data. We currently do not offer a scan-to-email service.
FAX
Our fax service is available for both sending and receiving faxes. Sending domestic faxes, including to destinations within the US, Canada, or the Caribbean, costs one dollar ($1.00) per page; a cover sheet is included at no additional charge.
To receive a fax at the Library, please call 610-494-3454. Provide your name, phone number, and the expected fax arrival time. We will notify you once your fax is received for collection. The charge for received faxes is fifty cents ($0.50) per page.
