Early Literacy Kits
Funded by The Community’s Foundation City of Chester Giving Circle, the library is curating kits that will contain a variety of materials, including board books, picture books, educational toys, manipulatives, songs, rhymes, and activities. These kits are designed to encourage families and caregivers to incorporate early literacy activities at home, fostering a culture of learning beyond the confines of the library and school.
STEAM Kits
Discover a range of STEAM kits designed to spark creativity and learning in children of various ages, made possible by a grant from the Library Foundation of Delaware County. Each kit is tailored to specific educational goals and typically includes hands-on activities, books, and explorations in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM). Place a hold on the kit of your choice and pick it up at your most convenient member library.
Kits available at the J. Lewis Crozer Library include:
- Building and Design Kit (Grades 1-4): Engage in hands-on activities with the KEVA Brain Builder and City Engineering set to enhance children’s creativity and engineering skills.
- Electronics, Coding & Bots Kit (Grades 4+): Start learning about electronics with a step-by-step guidebook, code with Artie the programmable robot, and explore electronics and circuits through Snap Circuits.
- Explore Circuits Kit (Grades 4+): Develop problem-solving, logic, and cause and effect skills with a circuits kit that includes a marble circuits game and an introduction to the fundamentals of circuitry.Robotics and Coding Kit (Grades PK-3): Explore the expanding world of coding with fun facts about technology and engaging interactive coding games that teach sequencing, decision-making, and command-following.
- Toddler Build & Play Kit (Ages 3+): Develop fine motor skills, spatial awareness, and problem-solving abilities with activities like a candy construction building set and tubation play.
StoryWalk®
The J. Lewis Crozer Library has proudly established a permanent StoryWalk® on the library grounds, thanks to funding awarded through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries. This initiative supports our mission to enhance equity and inclusion by providing an engaging outdoor literacy experience that benefits children, youth, and families. Imagine taking a leisurely stroll through Memorial Park while diving into the pages of a captivating picture book displayed on podiums—an ideal activity for all ages to enjoy together. The PA Power Library provides a dedicated web page designed to meet the information and learning needs of kids. It features BookFlix, where kids can enjoy videos and books on topics like animals, music, and community, including content in Spanish. Britannica School for PreK-5 offers a comprehensive source of informational text with encyclopedia articles, images, and videos. Cricket Media provides hundreds of eBooks aimed at enhancing literacy for kids from PreK to 8th grade. Discover PA For Kids offers fun facts about Pennsylvania, while Gale-In-Context: Elementary covers topics such as arts, geography, and technology. TrueFlix allows kids to explore videos and eBooks on topics like American Indians and the U.S. Government. Additionally, the “Chat with a Librarian” service offers live assistance. PA Power Library

Experience on-demand eLearning anytime, anywhere with this intuitive platform, suitable for learners of all ages. Features include live tutor interactions for homework help across various subjects, real-time skills-building, a 24- hour writing lab for essay feedback, a homework question submission option, and a foreign language lab with specialized support for Spanish speakers. This digital learning platform offers skill-based instruction in a wide array of sports and physical activities, making it easy and accessible for library users of all ages to explore sports and learn fundamental physical skills to build confidence. The platform features more than 1,800 videos across 14 different sports and activities, including mindfulness, dance, yoga, gymnastics, fitness, and basketball, with continuous expansion of its digital offerings. It also prioritizes accessibility, featuring a dedicated widget for library users with disabilities. Watch movies, TV shows, documentaries, and more with Kanopy, an on-demand streaming video platform. Library users have unlimited access to seven Plus Packs of curated content, as well as Kanopy Kids. The Plus Pack themes include Favorites, Easy Watching, Diversity, World Cinema, British Cinema & TV, Episodic Series, and Documentaries.
