Renewals
Most items can be renewed up to three times. However, renewal is not possible if the item is on hold for another borrower, is overdue, or if there are outstanding fines on your account.
Eligible items will automatically renew three days before their due date. You can also renew items online at www.delcolibraries.org. Please have your library card on hand when renewing online, as your card number is required to access your account.
Items Not Eligible for Renewal:
- Items that have holds or requests by other patrons
- Items that have already been renewed the maximum number of times
- Certain items, such as hotspots and museum passes
- Items requested from outside Delaware County through Interlibrary Loan
How Will You Know if Your Items Have Been Renewed?
- You can check your due dates via your online account.
- If we have your email on file, you will receive a courtesy email three days before the original due date, noting any new due dates.
Why Did Your Items Not Renew?
- Another patron has requested the item.
- The item is not eligible for renewal.
- The item has reached the maximum of three renewals.
- Your account has billed items or fines of $20 or more.
Can You Opt Out of Automatic Renewal?
- No, automatic renewal is not optional. If you do not want your items to auto-renew, simply return them before the due date.
Extended/Vacation Loans
If you plan to be out of town for longer than the usual loan period, you may request an extended loan for Delaware County Libraries items that are not in high demand. Please contact library staff for more information, as this option is not available at all libraries.

Typical Wait Time: Requests usually take 7-14 days to arrive, although some items may take longer. If you need to cancel your request, please contact us as soon as possible.
Things to Keep in Mind
- Cost: ILL is typically a free service. However, some materials may incur a fee from the lending library. We will ask for your consent before proceeding if a fee is involved.
