Stories Like Me

A Free Summer Digital Storytelling Program for Ages 5-11

Presented by Widener University in partnership with the J. Lewis Crozer Library, this is a free six-week summer program where kids explore their cultural identity and creativity through digital storytelling. Participants will build literacy and digital skills while expressing their unique backgrounds using tools like podcasting, digital drawing, stop-motion animation, graphic design, and video.

Each week explores a new theme:

Week 1: My Name, My Story – Create a digital name poster and record the meaning your name.

Week 2: Where I Came From – Map meaningful places in your community.

Week 3: Sounds & Rhythms of My Culture – Record a podcast about a favorite song.

Week 4: Cooking Up Stories – Create a stop-motion video of a dish you love.

Week 5: Superheroes in My Community – Design a hero inspired by someone you know.

Week 6: My Story, My Future – Make a vision board or video about your dreams.

All materials are provided, and a healthy lunch is served at every session.
